Privacy Policy
Effective: August 2026
Baby Coding watches your camera and listens to your microphone. That only works if you can trust where the data goes, so this page documents every byte that crosses a boundary, and the many that do not.
What never leaves your Mac
- Camera video. Frames are analysed on device to detect a hand shape and are discarded immediately. No image is stored, recorded or uploaded.
- Microphone audio. Speech is transcribed on device by Apple Speech Recognition. Neither the audio nor the transcript is sent to us.
- Your code, prompts and terminal output. The App reads only the decision prompt it needs to display, and never transmits it.
- Project names, file paths and commands. These appear in the panel on your screen and stay there.
The camera turns on only while a decision is pending and turns off right after. Local diagnostic logs are written to ~/.baby-coding/logs/ on your own machine and are never uploaded.
What the App sends, always
Two things are required and cannot be turned off, because without them we cannot keep the App stable or know whether it is useful. Neither carries personal data.
- Crash reports. When the App crashes, we receive the stack trace, the App version and the macOS version. No file paths from your projects, no clipboard, no camera or microphone data.
- Install and open counts. A count of installs and app launches, tied to a random anonymous identifier, not to you.
What the App sends only if you allow it
During setup you are asked whether to share anonymous usage metrics. It is optional, it is off unless you accept, and you can change it at any time in Settings. When enabled, the App sends event names and coarse counts through PostHog, for example "panel shown", "gesture confirmed" or "settings opened". It never sends the content of a prompt, a command, a path or a transcript.
IP address and approximate location
PostHog receives the IP address of the connection that carries an event, and derives an approximate city level location from it. This applies to crash reports and to optional analytics alike. We do not use that location to build a profile, and we do not store raw IP addresses in a database of our own.
Updates
The App checks for new versions by fetching an update feed from our download host. That request exposes your IP address and your App version to that host, the same way any download does. No identifier of yours is attached to it.
What this Site collects
The Site runs aggregate, cookieless analytics: pageview counts and coarse traffic metrics. There is no session replay, no heatmap, no mouse or scroll tracking, no fingerprinting, no advertising or remarketing tracker, and no persistent analytics cookie. The Site has no login and no newsletter, and it does not ask for your email.
Sub processors
- PostHog, crash reports, install counts and optional usage analytics
- Cloudflare, hosting for this site, the download host and cookieless web analytics
- Apple, on device speech recognition and vision frameworks, which run locally and send nothing to us
PostHog and Cloudflare publish Data Processing Agreements and process this data under their own privacy policies.
Retention
- Crash reports and analytics events: kept under the retention settings of PostHog
- Local logs on your Mac: kept until you delete them, and never uploaded
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD)
You can ask what data we hold that is linked to your anonymous identifier, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to help@manolus.com and we will answer within 30 days. You can also turn optional analytics off at any moment in Settings.
Children
The Site and App are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this Policy
We update the effective date at the top of this page whenever this Policy changes. Material changes, such as a new data category or a new sub processor, are announced in the app release notes.
